Gesamtmetall's Contribution to promise

During the first project year the Association of Metal and Electrical Industry Employers (Gesamtmetall) supported PROMISE by public relations activities of the THINK ING. network.

Gesamtmetall organised the 4. Ada-Lovelace-Mentoring symposium “Mentoring and Cultural Diversity” on April 6, 2006 in Berlin-Adlershof. The goal of this event was to integrate the activities of different projects on mentoring and aspects of migration into one event and have an exchange of experiences between the involved participants and groups. The symposium presented the PROMISE activities as well as those of the XENOS project and the activities of the Ada-Lovelace Mentoring e. V.. Presentations, discussions and a poster exhibition made it become a communicative and successful event.

A meeting of Club LISE girls as well as a meeting of the PROMISE Steering Committee was part of the event.

A detailed report about the symposium was published in Mai 2006 in the special interest magazine ADA-Mentoring 14-2006 (ISSN 1860-0522).

Gesamtmetall has been spreading the news about the PROMISE project by integrating the topic into its communication work which is promoting the natural sciences and the engineering profession towards young people and the public in general.
